Funner to be a Runner - March 4th

posted Feb 11, 2018, 3:18 PM by Christina Benavidez

Irving Families,

I would like to introduce you to an exciting, upcoming community event for our students. The annual Spring Runoff running race is scheduled for Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Dutch Clark Stadium and part of this event is the “Funner To Be A Runner” youth race (run/walk).  This race is free to all students, kindergarten through eighth grade. The school with the most participants receives a traveling trophy, earning this trophy would be a great way for our students to show the strength of our Irving community. Most importantly, this event brings the community together and promotes physical fitness, health, and lifelong wellness. I am looking forward to this opportunity for our students. Below is a list of important information if your child is interested in participating in this tremendous event.

Thank you for your consideration and support,

Chris Markert

Physical Education Teacher

Irving Elementary

The following information is required for your child to participate in this event, and is important to know:

  • If your child is participating in this event you will need to arrange for transportation to and from the event for them. The person transporting them to the event needs to be prepared to remain at Dutch Clark Stadium for the duration of the event (10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.).

  • Complete the Irving Race Registration below and return it to school with your child to be turned into me or their classroom teacher. This allows me to know who to be looking for on event day as we organize for the race.

  • Complete the Spring Runoff “Funner To Be A Runner” registration attached to this letter. If a parent would like to participate (run/walk)with their child, they must register and sign a waiver for the race just like the child (but does not count for the school). This registration can also be completed online at: .

  • ALL racers are required to arrive at Dutch Clark Stadium by 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018. The “Funner To Be A Runner” registration needs to be done either online (web address is on the registration and above) or turned in before 10:30 a.m. at the Dutch Clark Stadium the morning of the race.

  • The race will occur as scheduled, regardless of weather, so please plan on attending and dress accordingly.  Students should try (not required) to wear an Irving School T-Shirt, if possible.
