Good evening Bullpups.  We have many events going on this week.

First of all, our Halloween celebrations will be this Wednesday.
2-2:30 PM - Classroom party (Store-bought items only)
2:30-3:00 PM - Parade outside (parents can join us for this)
Costumes should be worn to school all day, so make sure your child chooses something comfortable to wear.  Costumes should NOT have blood/wounds or weapons (fake or real).  Masks and face paint are NOT allowed.  Costumes that are provocative are NOT allowed.  These costume expectations must be followed by students and adults.

On a different note, the popcorn/pickle sale will be this Thursday.

Our 1st quarter awards assembly will also be this Thursday.  K-2 grade awards will be presented at 8:15 AND 3-5 grade awards will be presented at 9:45.

There is a new bus route that starts today with different drop off times in the afternoon.  You can check the new times on our website by clicking on the bus icon.

Finally, the unused pancake breakfast tickets and money need to be turned in tomorrow.  The contest for selling the most tickets has ended and the winner will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday.  Also, please join us for the pancake breakfast on Saturday from 7:30-9:30 AM at Northside Applebee's.  The cost is $8.

Thank you and have a good evening.

Good afternoon Bullpups.  This is a reminder that we have conferences this week after school.  Please make sure you know your child's conference time. We are aiming for 100% participation.  When you come to conferences, don't forget to visit our specials teachers and our book fair.  Please note that there is an error in the students' planners stating there's no school this week.  That is incorrect.  We have a normal school schedule this week.  Finally, please visit our Trunk or Treat event on Thursday at 4:45 PM where we will have pizza for $1, candy, Kona ice, and our school choir will be singing Halloween songs.  Thank you!

Good evening Bullpups.  Tomorrow is picture retake day.  Students that were absent during the first picture day will have a chance to take their picture.  Other students must return their picture packets or pay for pictures in order to participate in the picture retake day.  Tomorrow is also Bell Spirit Day where students can dress in blue or red to support their favorite team.  Finally, please support our PTSO by bringing a baked item to our office tomorrow so PTSO can have baked goods for their bake sale on Saturday.  Thank you and have a good evening.

Good evening Bullpup families. I have a few announcements and updates for you. This Thursday is jean day for one dollar.  Students who would like to wear jeans or other causal wear should plan to bring one dollar to help student council raise money to buy a washer and dryer for our school.  Also, there is some incorrect information in the planner.  It shows NO SCHOOL during the week of October 22, but that is NOT true.  We do have school.  Instead, it should have said CONFERENCES since we will be having conferences after school that entire week.  Please make sure you sign up for a conference time.  Next, please be patient and understanding with our new parking guidelines; we are trying to keep kids safe and traffic moving smoothly.  Pay attention to the new signs that are posted.  On another note, don't forget that we have a BIG attendance contest this month with fun prizes for the students.  Finally, we have a PTSO meeting this Thursday at 4 PM in the cafeteria.  Our PTSO supports this school in so many ways; please get involved in helping them with their mission.  Everyone is welcome to attend - again it's this Thursday in the cafeteria.  Thank you and have a good evening.

Good afternoon Bullpup families, this is Mr. Patterson, the Community Advocate at Irving. We are going to strive to get the best attendance possible this month.  The students here at Irving deserve to be the best that they can be.  Attendance is one of the most important Indicators for student success.  Please make sure to send your child to school every day.  October 3rd will be our kickoff with a candy handout from our parent - teacher student organization.  We will also have a drawing for all students who attend this day for some bigger prizes.  For all students who have perfect attendance for the month in grades kindergarten through 2nd grade, they will be able to attend a Halloween movie with popcorn and drinks on October 31st.  3rd through 5th graders with perfect attendance will be able to attend a dance party on November 1st.  Thank you for making sure that your child attends school so that they can be the best that they can be!

This is Mrs. Benavidez with an update about parking.  The back parking lot on 22nd street is designated for staff only.  Parents were using the parking lot as a drop off loop for their children and it became unsafe.  We will be roping off the parking lot, so use the front drop off loop on 21st street to pick up and drop off your child.  Please note that 21st street is a one way street.  Use the loop to drop off your child; however, do not park in the loop or double park.  Do not allow your child to run across the street, and don't do U turns.  Please be patient with the loop line.  You may park across the street or on side streets.  Finally, the diagonal parking in front of our school is designated for short term parking only.   Thank you for understanding and ensuring that our children are safe.

Good evening Bullpups.  Here are a few updates for events that are happening this week.  Tomorrow night, there is a free zoo night for Irving elementary families from 5-7 PM.  We hope that you'll make time to stop by the zoo and enjoy time with your family.  Also, Thursday, September 20th, is picture day.  Students do NOT have to wear uniforms.  Instead, they may wear school appropriate casual or dress up clothes.  Make sure students do not have high heels, flip flops, or other unsafe shoes.  Picture day forms went home on Monday.  Parents can order pictures online from and by putting the school code in:CG328127Y0.  If you have any questions, please call the office.  Thank you and have a good evening.

Good afternoon Irving Bullpups.  Tonight is pizza night and our school gets a portion of the sale, so please support us.  We are working with a new business called Simple Simons located on the north side near Albertsons.  Simply mention Irving when ordering to help us earn money.  Also, our picture day is scheduled for September 20 and there will be more information coming soon.  Our first PTSO meeting will be on Thursday, September 13th and all parents are invited to attend.
We need your support to make Irving an amazing place for our students.  Finally, please remember that school starts at 7:45 a.m. and we close all exterior doors.  Parents must walk their child to the office and sign them in if they're late.
