Choir Update

posted Nov 18, 2017, 8:22 AM by Christina Benavidez

11-18-17 Good Morning, This message is from Mrs. Emerson: To all of our Choir students and their parents I would like to start by thanking you once again for a spectacular concert last night at the Court House. However, this message is especially for those parents that were stuck outside and weren't able to enjoy the concert. My deepest apologies. I was instructed to start our portion of the celebration and when I specifically asked if all Irving families were able to get back inside by that time, I was told you were given ample time. Thankfully we have two more concerts this season; Thursday, December 7th at Centennial HS and Saturday, December 9th at the Pueblo Mall. Please feel free to contact me on any choir related matter. Have a wonderful break and Happy Thanksgiving.

Monday, November 6, 2017

Good Evening Choir Families, I want to make sure everyone knows about the upcoming concerts.

Friday, November 17th, 2017 The choir will be singing at the Annual Tree Lighting Celebration at the Pueblo County Courthouse.  We will be singing inside in the Rotunda.  (If you walk up the huge flight of stairs on the south side of the building, the Rotunda is directly inside of the main doors.) Our performance time is from 6-6:20 p.m. Students should plan on arriving by 5:50.    Please be on time, especially since our performance time is only 20 minutes long. Students should wear an Irving shirt and jeans; they are welcome to wear Christmas accessories of any kind. Please let me know if you are unable to attend that performance.  I have to give a final count of students no later than Wednesday, November 15th.  THANK YOU!

Thursday, December 7, 2017   is our Christmas Concert.  We will perform at Centennial High School, in their auditorium.

Students need to arrive by 6 p.m., our performance will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. Since this is our 1st “Official” concert of the year and it is for Christmas, I have asked the students to dress in their nicest clothes.  (Uniforms are perfectly acceptable.)  (Please NO JEANS for this concert.)

Saturday, December 9, 2017  Irving Bullpup Choir will be performing at the Pueblo Mall.  We will have a 30 minute performance time.  Students are asked to wear jeans, their Irving shirt, as well as Christmas hats, scarves, jewelry, etc. Our time to perform is from 11:30-Noon  I ask that parents stay with us, especially since this is such a short time and students are dismissed to leave as soon as we finish performing.  Please have students arrive no later than 11:15.

As always, please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you,

Tina Emerson

Attendance in October

posted Oct 10, 2017, 3:55 PM by Christina Benavidez

Good evening Irving Bullpups.  There are only six more days of school left in October.  Students come on October 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, and 20th.  Please make sure to have your kids here every day and on time for these six days.  There have been many absences and tardies this year.  Please talk to your child about the importance of school and being on time and present every day. Thank you for your support and have a good evening!

You are cordially invited to the Community Peace Summit hosted by Pueblo City Schools.
The event will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2017.  The opening ceremony will begin at
10:00 at the Southwest Motors Events Center.
The purpose of the Community Peace Summit is to demonstrate how students pledge to
create peace at school and transform our district.  It also is a demonstration of our
community’s pledge of support.  The event is designed around bullying prevention activities
that have occurred at schools or are planned for the upcoming year through school-based
peace summits.

All kids who attend school on October 2, 2017 will be in for a fun day!  We are going to have a drawing; the prizes are: school hoodies and shirts,  two scooters, helmets and protective gear for one girl and one boy.  Also, every child who attends will get a popsicle at the end of the day.

GOAL:  Our goal is to get 100% of the kids to school.  We want to have the best attendance of all elementary schools for the month of October.

There are only 13 school days in October, and our goal is perfect attendance for every student. Each month we reward kids that have perfect attendance.  If your child missed a day last month, they still have a chance for perfect attendance the next month.  There are 143 students who did not miss a single day in September.  Great Job!!!!

The classroom with the best attendance for the month will be rewarded. They will have a classroom party to celebrate their attendance. Last month, Mrs. Sackett’s room enjoyed a popcorn party, thanks to PTSO!  In September, Mrs. Cortese’s class won with 96.16% of her students in attendance.  Great Job!!!!

Starting in October we are also rewarding the class with the most improved attendance. The classroom party will be either pizza, ice cream or popcorn.   Mrs. McNierney had an increase of 4.06% this month from last month.  Great Job!!!!

Did you know that students with good/perfect attendance have a higher success rate with graduating from high school?

We need to have a great October attendance rate.  Please call Mr. Patterson at 549-7570 if you have any questions or concerns about attendance.

Every child deserves a champion - an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can be.

Monday October 23, through Tuesday October 31, 2017 is Fall Break for Irving Students.  Students will return on Wednesday, November 1st.

If you need to get a message to your child or change your student pick up and departures for the day, please call by 2:30 p.m. to insure we get the change correct in the office.  Calling later than this could cause problems with getting the information to your child in time.

Please call in absences by 9:00 am when your student is out of school for the day.

If your student has a doctor, dental, or professional appointment please get a school excuse for that and turn it into the office upon returning.

We are a uniform school. Please make sure your student is dressed in uniform daily. We know there is sometimes a reason not to have one on. Please call the office and let us know. We have a uniform bank where we gladly take and exchange uniforms.

We are having some issues with outside food coming to school.  Snacks such as Takis, Hot Cheetos, and assorted snacks like this are causing many issues throughout the school day and we ask that students not bring outside snacks to school. Please know that your child is provided a healthy afternoon snack each day before going home.

If for any reason you are finding it hard to get your child to school, please contact Mr. Patterson, our community advocate, to discuss strategies to support getting your child to school.  It is so important to establish good attendance habits to keep your children on track, not only now, but in the future.  Thank you for all of your cooperation and hard work in making your child the best they can be!  Have a good evening!
